SPARRING PROTOCOL
Sparring Protocol:
- If not participating, quietly sit along the side of the floor
(feet facing away from floor, kneeling or crisscross)
- Do NOT sit on a chair
- Do NOT lean against a wall
- Do NOT talk
- Observe sparring to learn techniques and skills
- Sit quiet, watch and learn
Participants:
- Maintain personal hygiene
Clean and trimmed fingernails and toenails, as well as clean hands and feet
Wear deodorant
- Safety equipment is mandatory for all participants:
Mouth guard, headgear, hand and foot pads, and a protective cup for male participants
(if you accidentally forget your cup, you must let your sparring partner know)
- Higher rank requests sparring partner; Lower rank must wait to be asked
If waiting for a sparring partner raise your hand
- Sparring is to learn skills in action, but CONTROL MUST BE USED
The higher rank should be considerate and fight at the lower ranks level
- No kicking into knees, or hits to back of head allowed
Kicks need to be belt high and above. Groin kicks with control are allowed
(Groin kicks are not allowed if male sparring partner is not wearing a cup)
